Trishna Wedemire, MSW, RSW

Hello there, I’m Trishna.

As a Mom of two teenage boys and having worked with children, adolescents and their caregivers throughout my career, I draw on my personal and professional experience using strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive approaches to support my clients through life’s challenges, providing a welcoming, safe and compassionate space.

I am a Registered Social Worker who has been practicing since 2009. I have gained valuable experience working with a wide range of ages in Health and Mental Health across a number of populations. This has led me to believe that people will do well if they can and through the therapeutic process, we need to understand the contributing factors, identify barriers, and build the skills to overcome challenges. I thrive to empower clients to build confidence in navigating their social and emotional world.

I completed a Master of Social Work (MSW) specializing in work with children and families from the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto and earned my undergraduate degree (BA. Hons) in Psychology from King’s University College at Western University. I completed my practical training at CAMH supporting people with comorbid mental health issues and addiction including: Eating Disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder and Social Anxiety, further enhancing my knowledge and comfort supporting people through a wide range of issues.

I have completed training in a number of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), applied mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Collaborative Proactive Solutions (CPS), incorporating various techniques into my therapeutic work, tailoring sessions to meet each client’s unique needs.

Previously I worked as a social worker at CPRI providing assessment, treatment and service coordination to paediatric clients and their families; and in private practice have been providing individual, couples and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of mental health concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, self-image, health, grief/loss, life transitions, parenting, and relationships.

As a psychotherapist, I believe in practicing what we preach. Self-care, connecting with loved ones, and engaging in fun activities are important to me. I have practiced Yoga and mindfulness for over 25 years for my own fitness, coping, and mental health. Often, you can find me with Regina (my 4lbs Yorkshire Terrier) at the beach, hiking in nature, travelling, pitch-side for my sons’ soccer games, or at home cooking and relaxing with a good book. I love a soothing, hot cup of chai and indulgent sweet treats. Like Regina, I believe healthy companionship, good food, and lots of sleep are life’s greatest pleasures.

I look forward to being a part of your therapeutic journey.

I offer counselling services for Young Adults (16+) and Adults. I am currently accepting new clients.
